Ellen Perkins
Musician | Educator
Ellen holds a degree in Master’s of Education in Education Technology and Instructional Design from Western Governor’s University. She received her Bachelor’s of Science in Music Education degree from Duquesne University (3.98 GPA).
She is currently teaching high school music with Commonwealth Charter Academy. During this position, she specializes in designing diverse learning experiences for a wide variety of students throughout the state of Pennsylvania. Prior to working with Commonwealth Charter Academy, Ellen worked at the elementary, middle, and high school levels teaching general, instrumental, and vocal music.
Ellen is a private music teacher for guitar, piano, violin, ukulele, voice, and clarinet. She is experienced in all genres of music and focuses on student-centered learning experiences.
As a performer, Ellen frequently performs as a vocalist while accompanying herself on piano and guitar. For performances, Ellen primarily performs in the styles of jazz, soul, R&B, pop, and folk. She has performed at Highmark’s International StrEat Festival and the Grand Ole Opry House in Nashville, TN. She is also a recording artist on AurallaurA's Exetastes album and Duquesne University's Voices of Spirit album Wake Up My Spirit.
